Update from the Executive Committee

Tracey Kitching - Chair

A quiet time for me since the last meeting but I am looking forward to the AGM and Conference weekend.  We have a fantastic programme and I am sure that everyone who attends will enjoy it.

I also hope to pop along to Woodlarks  for the weekend in May.  A week long camp for members of clubs affiliated to NASCH, which is packed full of activities and trips.  A must to anyone who enjoys camping.

I look forward to meeting up with old friends and meeting new ones at the Conference weekend.

Lorraine Booth - Social Secretary

The dates for Woodlarks next year are booked it’s the week 26th May to 2nd
June 2012. This is to follow on with the changed bank holiday dates and the Queens Diamond Jubilee.  Forms will be mailed out in early January 2012.

On a social front I have been meeting various clubs at the NASCH Championships and at Region 10’s gala, hello to the Winsford Turtles, Blackpool Polar Bears, Ellesmere Port Aquadis and my club Chester Terrapins. We had a super gala at Woolston Baths, Warrington and the winners from that went on to the NASCH Championship Gala. This was held at Royal Leamington Spa on Saturday 5th November and if you didn’t go, you missed out on a superb gala. It’s a great opportunity to see all that’s great about competitive swimming using the NASCH system. It was lovely to many clubs there and catch up with the news from them and their region. Some people I only see at Leamington and it’s always nice to have a chat.

Hon Competitions Secretary (temp)

Nice quiet time of year for this job , so I have been putting together a questionnaire to go out to all clubs re the Gala format and any comments so please fill it in and mail it back to me.

Hopefully after the Conference we will have a new competition secretary, who I hope you will support as well as you have me, over both my stints at running galas.

NASCH Helpers Course. This year I have run three courses. One in Maidstone One in Dover and the third in Blackpool. They were all very different in their own way. One for club Helpers. One included teachers who teach in main stream and have Special Need pupils in their groups also parents who work in the pool with their own children, and t he third was for Parents of children who were to become club helpers. Each course is structured for the needs of that particular group although we obviously have a course program which has to be covered fully. We try to encourage input from all the candidates. I learn from each course and its good to see how others clubs work. There are a lot of very dedicated helpers out there who just need that little bit of confidence and re-assurance that what they are doing is fine .Our course helps to reinforce their skills and knowledge .and deals with any queries or information they may require.

I have been successful in receiving some donations in response to my appeals which is gratifying, but the work goes on. We must not get complacent as the Association will not be able to continue without donations.

I have sent out the letters and forms for the 2012 reaffiliations. I am pleased to say that a good number of clubs have reaffiliated and most have made the effort to fill the questionnaire form in as well. So thank you to those who have.

I enjoyed the excellent Championship Gala held on the 5th November.

Michael O'Leary - Co-ordinator

I attended the NASCH Championships as Trophy Trustee; I was really pleased that all the trophies were returned by last year’s winners at the Championships.  Another brilliant Gala.

The preparation of the 2012 Conference (2nd March-4th March) is now underway and the first notification about this important event has been sent to member clubs. The next mailing in January will include the Programme. Possible speakers have been approached to make the Conference as interesting as usual.

The Programme is beginning to come together gradually. My fingers are crossed!

Also I have answered many queries from clubs and some about the membership of NASCH and we may have another new club in the Association soon.
